A boutique public and media relations agency, Bettie Bomb, Inc. Public Relations was created in 2005, specializing in retail, lifestyle, non-profit, bridal, health and beauty, fashion, restaurant and hospitality industries throughout the Chicagoland area. Not a large corporation, Bettie Bomb is simply me.

Developing personal working relationships combined with providing detail-oriented one-on-one service, Bettie Bomb focuses on each client as an individual. That being said, Bettie Bomb doesn’t believe in the “cookie cutter” approach – every business is different. Structured with the client’s individual wants and needs in mind, Bettie Bomb offers a customized media relations plan, designed to overall encompass the goals their trying to achieve. In addition to consistent work on the media front, Bettie Bomb will also help clients grow their business and create "buzz" among both the consumer market and industry professionals.

My mission is to consistently give strong media presence, locally and nationally, to all clients, as well as position each as an individual. By representing only a small number of accounts, Bettie Bomb is able to deliver the dedication and attention that each client deserves. The overall purpose is to enhance each client’s image, build brand awareness, penetrate key industries, reach the appropriate target market and keep each client "top of mind" among its industry, thus providing a “grass-roots” marketing approach.

CCR

Chicago Canine Rescue’s 7th Annual Mutt Strut

Chicago, IL – It’s that time of year again where Chicagoans “strut” their stuff for charity at the 7th Annual Mutt Strut benefiting Chicago Canine Rescue (CCR)! On Saturday, September 18th, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., dog lovers and their four-legged friends are invited for a 1.5 mile walk plus a block party with food, entertainment and more!

In Lakeview, along Newport Avenue between Southport and Lakewood, experience this all ages event and end-of-the-summer stroll with your pup! Priced at $25 per person (before 9/10, $30 after), participants can get some exercise and then relax with a post-walk family festival (kids and dogs are free). After lunch, enjoy music, children’s activities, demonstrations, plus sales on both canine and human merchandise at neighborhood shops. Patrons will also have a chance to meet adoptable dogs from CCR! Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the walk is scheduled at 11 a.m., shine only.

The mission of CCR is to save the lives of companion animals by decreasing the thousands of abuses and euthanizations in Chicago through the rescue and adoption of dogs and cats. This event is a fundraising opportunity benefiting CCR and donations are greatly appreciated!

Please join us at the 7th Annual Mutt Strut and help find families for homeless pooches…maybe you’ll even welcome home a new furry addition to your family!

Chicago Canine Rescue was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in Chicago. In the past nine years, CCR has saved the lives of over 2,500 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. CCR assists animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Chicago - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, too injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters. Over 20,000 animals are euthanized in Chicago each year. For more information, please contact Chicago Canine Rescue at 773.697.8848 or visit www.chicagocaninerescue.org.

Fertility Centers of Illinois (FCI) Announce Naperville Couple as

Beneficiaries for Annual "Birdies for Babies" Gold Fundraiser

Heartfelt Story Grants Fertility Assistance

Fertility Centers of Illinois (FCI) has selected Katie Dennis and her fiancé, Patrick Davis as beneficiaries for the FCI BIRDIES FOR BABIES golf fundraiser on Saturday, September 25th in which proceeds and IVF treatment are given to a couple struggling with infertility.

Now in its seventh year, BIRDIES FOR BABIES was started by Todd and Melissa Trader of Naperville, IL, who endured infertility issues along with costly IVF procedures for five years before having their daughter. Inspired to help others financially, the Traders looked to their own industry of golf in which they both work, and BIRDIES FOR BABIES was born. It was last year when the Traders’ mission caught the attention of FCI who was inspired by their mission and excited to sign on as title sponsor for the tournament. “Having sponsored and played last year, FCI saw firsthand the dedication and passion of the people that have supported this event,” says Penny Baxter, Director of Practice Development at FCI. “As sponsors again this year, we hope to continue to raise awareness of the event to other companies in the fertility industry so that they may become involved in the future. FCI is thrilled about this opportunity and to be able to give back to the fertility community.”

In choosing a beneficiary couple, submissions were accepted from those diagnosed infertile and looking into options to have their first child. The Traders selected Katie Dennis and her shocking story of cancer diagnosis at age twelve that has left her unable to conceive.

Dennis, like most seventh graders, was an active and happy young girl. As a female athlete enrolled in honors classes to prepare for high school, her only concern was friends, hair and classes. At the snap of a finger, Dennis’ life changed instantly when she was diagnosed with stage 3 germ cell ovarian cancer. At the time, she had no other choice than to remove her ovaries that had malignant tumors the size of grapefruits and growing from the inside-out. The cancer was extremely aggressive and prognosis of her surviving was sixty percent. At a time when she didn’t even know what ovaries were, she was informed the cancer did not spread to her other reproductive parts and was told by the medical team that if taken care of properly, she would be able to carry a child one day via IVF.

Immediately following her surgery, Dennis met with an endocrinologist that began hormone therapy to preserve her uterus before starting chemotherapy. Due to the aggressiveness of the cancer, the chemotherapy was intense and she was bald instantly starting the treatment. Dennis was diagnosed with a rare cancer, underwent major abdominal surgery and lost her ovaries and hair within TWO days. “It’s a shame to not be left with any ovaries, especially when you want children as much as I always have. However, no matter how hard the situation, I cannot complain as I am alive and grateful there are other solutions for someone like me, explains Dennis.

Dennis has been in remission for 11 years and claims surviving cancer to be her greatest accomplishment to date. Because she has no ovaries, Dennis will need donated eggs to fulfill her dream of having a child. She is currently undergoing preliminary diagnostic testing at FCI to prepare for IVF. “I have no doubt that Katie will have a successful pregnancy with IVF given her young age and healthy reproductive organs, explains Dr. Meike Uhler from Fertility Centers of Illinois in Naperville. “I am inspired by her story, as a woman and as a doctor.”

Dennis is marrying her college sweetheart on November 6th and is looking to start a family immediately. “Every day since I was twelve, I always asked myself will being a mom actually happen for me? It was a very disheartening topic until now and I can say cancer has not taken everything away from me. Patrick and I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity Todd and Melissa Trader have given us. We have been granted a wish of a lifetime by extraordinary people! “exclaims Dennis. BIRDIES FOR BABIES Golf Outing is on Saturday, September 25th at 8:00am at Tamarack Golf Club (24032 Royal Worlington Drive, Naperville). Ticket price is $135 per person and includes golf, cart, shirt, gift bag, breakfast/beverages on the course and post reception. For more information on the event please visit www.golfinvite.com/bfb.

Fertility Centers of Illinois, S.C., is one of the nation's leading infertility treatment practices, providing advanced reproductive endocrinology services in the Chicago area for more than 30 years.  For more information visit www.fcionline.com
